The house, in the campo of La Indiana below the town of Ronda, was built in 1966. It provided 4 bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen and terrace. It was reformed in 1996 as a family home, but the condition deteriorated in recent years to become a Serrannia de Ronda project house. 100s of similar homes have been refurbished successfully in Ronda and included in designated conservation areas. Whole streets have been transformed by skilled, artisan craftsmen to maintain a medieval feel.

Those skills are available to help buyers transform this battered property into a family home, bed and breakfast or holiday letting investment. New owners with vision can have a field day in producing an appealing rustic home close to Andalucia’s third most visited town, steeped in ancient myths and bullfighting folklore.

Local estimate suggest refurbishment costs of € 100,000 to restore and enhance this property to match its neighbours. Subject to project evaluation, the bank owner would be prepared to consider a low interest loan of 50%. New owners would need cash input of €85,000 to cover building costs, fees and taxes.

Towns and Villages of Serrania de Ronda

The Serrania de Ronda is 47 kilometres from San Pedro de Alcantara on the Costa del Sol. Winding mountain roads reveal one of the most stunning natural landscapes, mountains ranges broken up by plains that stretch as far as the eye can see. Wildlife includes eagles and kestrels, outdoor activities and sports are endless in the hills, valleys and forests.

It is a fairly mountainous area, with some of the most beautiful pueblos blancos (white villages) of Andalusia. There are over 20 pueblos blancos villages (white villages*) to explore by car, mountain bike or trekking in selected areas. One highlight is the Cueva de la Pileta, a Palaeolithic cave discovered dating back some 20,000 years. The caves shelter some of the most important cave art in Europe and they are open to the public

The little town of Júzcar (Malaga, Spain), one of the “White Towns of Andalusia”, was chosen by Sony Pictures as the place to stage the worldwide release for the film Smurfs 2011. For the occasion, all the white houses and buildings were painted blue and stayed that colour until the end of summer 2011. The colour change boosted its tourists from 300 to 160,000 a year.
